The State Buildings, Perth Diocesan Trustees, Mirvac and the City of Perth appointed Assembly + Co. to assist in the development of a placemaking strategy for Cathedral Square.

To launch the passive place and activation program for 2020, artist Sean van der Poel’s installation Inflection was installed on site as a first for the Perth CBD.

Appearing like giant spheres of water across the landscape, the reflective surface of these forms invited the public to immerse themselves in their surroundings.

Active across a four week period, Inflection encouraged curiosity in a way that elevated the Square’s architecture and gave pause for gentle contemplation.
